The EPC number is found on your energy assessment, usually in the top-right corner. It contains 13 alphanumeric characters.

You don't have an EPC number yet?

Test the tool instantly with a demo EPC (no API call).

How we analyse your DPE

Once you have entered your DPE number, our algorithm runs 3 chained steps with over 40 technical checks to assess the reliability of your diagnostic.

1

ADEME retrieval

We query ADEME's official database to retrieve all the technical data of your DPE.

2

40+ consistency checks

Internal consistency, BDNB and land registry comparisons, local comparisons, fraud detection, property history.

3

Understanding DPE ratings

The DPE rates homes from A (very efficient) to G (energy sieve) based on their primary energy consumption in kWh/m²/year

A
≤ 70Excellent - Very efficient
B
71-110Very good - Efficient
C
111-180Good - Fairly efficient
D
181-250Average - Average performance
E
251-330Insufficient - Poorly efficient
F
331-420Very insufficient - Energy sieve
Energy sieve
G
> 420Extremely insufficient
Energy sieve

2025 regulations

Since 1 January 2025, homes rated G are banned from being rented out. Homes rated F will be affected in 2028, then those rated E in 2034.

Why verify your DPE?

The Energy Performance Diagnostic (DPE)has become an essential document in every real estate transaction. Since its 2021 reform, it has a direct impact on your property's value and on whether it can be rented out.

Errors more common than you might think

According to a study by 60 Millions de Consommateurs, nearly one DPE in three is said to contain anomalies. These errors can stem from:

  • Errors when entering the dwelling's characteristics
  • Poor estimation of the insulation or equipment
  • Inconsistencies in the regulatory calculations
  • Sometimes, intentional manipulations to improve the rating

Significant financial consequences

An incorrect DPE can have significant repercussions:

  • A 5 to 15% discount on the sale price for energy sieves
  • Energy bills higher than expected
  • Renovation works under- or over-estimated
  • Legal disputes in the event of a clearly incorrect DPE

Our tool helps you spot the potential inconsistencies in your DPE before they become a problem. It's free, fast and based on ADEME's official data.
