Energy and climate ratings

Among 36,424 valid DPEs of homes (excluding generated DPEs) in Aix-en-Provence, rating C is the most common; 62% reach ratings A to C.

If the homes with a DPE in Aix-en-Provence had the same mix of building age and type (house, flat) as mainland France, the F+G share would be 4.7% (+0.9 pt versus the observed figure).

Small homes are the most often poorly rated in Aix-en-Provence: 5.2% of assessed homes under 25 m² are rated F or G, against 2.7% for those of 70-99 m².

For 14% of homes with a DPE in Aix-en-Provence whose published class is reproduced, the climate rating (greenhouse-gas emissions) sets the DPE class: the final rating is the worse of the two (18% in mainland France).

13% of homes with a DPE in Aix-en-Provence whose published class is reproduced would change rating with 5 kWh/m²/year of consumption, or 1 kg CO₂/m²/year of emissions, more or less: they sit on a class boundary (4,847 homes; 12% in mainland France). For them, a small measurement gap or a minor work can move the letter.

Frequently asked questions — Aix-en-Provence

How many energy-inefficient homes are there in Aix-en-Provence?

Of the 36,424 homes with a DPE (excluding generated DPEs) since 1 July 2021 whose DPE is valid on 25 August 2026, 1,364 are rated F or G (3.7%), including 284 rated G. At building age and type comparable to mainland France, the share would be 4.7%. These are homes with a DPE, not every home in the city.

Which postcode of Aix-en-Provence has the highest share of F- or G-rated homes?

Among homes with a DPE (excluding generated DPEs), it is 13290: 4.9% are rated F or G, out of 1,007 DPEs. 13090 has the lowest share (2.5%). The table by postcode also gives, for each, the share of flats and of homes built before 1948 among assessed homes.

How are homes in Aix-en-Provence heated?

According to their DPEs, homes in Aix-en-Provence are mainly heated by electricity (65%), natural gas (24%), district heating (5.9%). In mainland France, electricity heats 50% of homes with a DPE and natural gas 36%.

Why are some DPEs in Aix-en-Provence generated from the building?

29% of valid DPEs in Aix-en-Provence were generated from the building's DPE, without a rating measured for the flat itself. The rules allow this for flats in an already-assessed building. These DPEs are counted separately on this page: they report F and G less often in older buildings, and almost never summer comfort.

Is district heating common in Aix-en-Provence?

5.9% of homes with a DPE in Aix-en-Provence are on district heating, against 4.1% in mainland France. In the DPE, district heating's primary energy is counted with a factor of 1, and its greenhouse-gas emissions depend on each network's own carbon content.
