Frequently asked questions — Nancy

How many energy-inefficient homes are there in Nancy?

Of the 38,195 homes with a DPE (excluding generated DPEs) since 1 July 2021 whose DPE is valid on 25 August 2026, 3,323 are rated F or G (8.7%), including 866 rated G. At building age and type comparable to mainland France, the share would be 8.1%. These are homes with a DPE, not every home in the city.

Which postcode of Nancy has the highest share of F- or G-rated homes?

Among homes with a DPE (excluding generated DPEs), it is 54000: 8.8% are rated F or G, out of 37,481 DPEs. 54100 has the lowest share (1.0%). The table by postcode also gives, for each, the share of flats and of homes built before 1948 among assessed homes.

How are homes in Nancy heated?

According to their DPEs, homes in Nancy are mainly heated by natural gas (49%), electricity (47%), district heating (3.3%). In mainland France, electricity heats 50% of homes with a DPE and natural gas 36%.

Why are some DPEs in Nancy generated from the building?

28% of valid DPEs in Nancy were generated from the building's DPE, without a rating measured for the flat itself. The rules allow this for flats in an already-assessed building. These DPEs are counted separately on this page: they report F and G less often in older buildings, and almost never summer comfort.

What do DPEs in Nancy say about summer comfort?

92% of homes with a DPE in Nancy fill in the DPE's summer comfort section. Of these, 34% are rated insufficient, 55% average and 12% good. The fill-in rate varies widely: these figures describe DPEs that complete the section, not the whole city.
