Energy and climate ratings

Among 36,731 valid DPEs of homes (excluding generated DPEs) in Limoges, rating D is the most common; 37% reach ratings A to C.

If the homes with a DPE in Limoges had the same mix of building age and type (house, flat) as mainland France, the F+G share would be 8.8% (+0.6 pt versus the observed figure).

By floor area, the F+G share among homes with a DPE in Limoges ranges from 6.5% (70-99 m²) to 11% (100 m² and over).

For 16% of homes with a DPE in Limoges whose published class is reproduced, the climate rating (greenhouse-gas emissions) sets the DPE class: the final rating is the worse of the two (18% in mainland France).

12% of homes with a DPE in Limoges whose published class is reproduced would change rating with 5 kWh/m²/year of consumption, or 1 kg CO₂/m²/year of emissions, more or less: they sit on a class boundary (4,354 homes; 12% in mainland France). For them, a small measurement gap or a minor work can move the letter.

Frequently asked questions — Limoges

How many energy-inefficient homes are there in Limoges?

Of the 36,731 homes with a DPE (excluding generated DPEs) since 1 July 2021 whose DPE is valid on 25 August 2026, 2,989 are rated F or G (8.1%), including 833 rated G. At building age and type comparable to mainland France, the share would be 8.8%. These are homes with a DPE, not every home in the city.

Why are some DPEs in Limoges generated from the building?

35% of valid DPEs in Limoges were generated from the building's DPE, without a rating measured for the flat itself. The rules allow this for flats in an already-assessed building. These DPEs are counted separately on this page: they report F and G less often in older buildings, and almost never summer comfort.

Which postcode of Limoges has the highest share of F- or G-rated homes?

Among homes with a DPE (excluding generated DPEs), it is 87100: 10% are rated F or G, out of 10,797 DPEs. 87280 has the lowest share (1.6%). The table by postcode also gives, for each, the share of flats and of homes built before 1948 among assessed homes.

How are homes in Limoges heated?

According to their DPEs, homes in Limoges are mainly heated by natural gas (47%), electricity (42%), district heating (9.0%). In mainland France, electricity heats 50% of homes with a DPE and natural gas 36%.

Is district heating common in Limoges?

9.0% of homes with a DPE in Limoges are on district heating, against 4.1% in mainland France. In the DPE, district heating's primary energy is counted with a factor of 1, and its greenhouse-gas emissions depend on each network's own carbon content.

Comparable cities

Cities chosen for their similar size, climate, building stock or département.

Among its comparable cities (Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Besançon, Grenoble, Saint-Étienne, Poitiers and Bordeaux), Limoges has neither the highest nor the lowest value on any indicator; however, its share of district-heated homes (9.0%) is above the group median (5.6%) and its median price per m² for a flat (€1,577) is below the group median (€2,193).
