Energy and climate ratings

Among 39,205 valid DPEs of homes (excluding generated DPEs) in Clermont-Ferrand, rating D is the most common; 36% reach ratings A to C.

If the homes with a DPE in Clermont-Ferrand had the same mix of building age and type (house, flat) as mainland France, the F+G share would be 12% (+0.4 pt versus the observed figure).

By floor area, the F+G share among homes with a DPE in Clermont-Ferrand ranges from 9.0% (70-99 m²) to 14% (25-39 m²).

For 22% of homes with a DPE in Clermont-Ferrand whose published class is reproduced, the climate rating (greenhouse-gas emissions) sets the DPE class: the final rating is the worse of the two (18% in mainland France).

12% of homes with a DPE in Clermont-Ferrand whose published class is reproduced would change rating with 5 kWh/m²/year of consumption, or 1 kg CO₂/m²/year of emissions, more or less: they sit on a class boundary (4,588 homes; 12% in mainland France). For them, a small measurement gap or a minor work can move the letter.

Frequently asked questions — Clermont-Ferrand

How many energy-inefficient homes are there in Clermont-Ferrand?

Of the 39,205 homes with a DPE (excluding generated DPEs) since 1 July 2021 whose DPE is valid on 25 August 2026, 4,622 are rated F or G (12%), including 1,583 rated G. At building age and type comparable to mainland France, the share would be 12%. These are homes with a DPE, not every home in the city.

Why are some DPEs in Clermont-Ferrand generated from the building?

33% of valid DPEs in Clermont-Ferrand were generated from the building's DPE, without a rating measured for the flat itself. The rules allow this for flats in an already-assessed building. These DPEs are counted separately on this page: they report F and G less often in older buildings, and almost never summer comfort.

How are homes in Clermont-Ferrand heated?

According to their DPEs, homes in Clermont-Ferrand are mainly heated by natural gas (54%), electricity (41%), district heating (3.6%). In mainland France, electricity heats 50% of homes with a DPE and natural gas 36%.

What do DPEs in Clermont-Ferrand say about summer comfort?

86% of homes with a DPE in Clermont-Ferrand fill in the DPE's summer comfort section. Of these, 28% are rated insufficient, 52% average and 20% good. The fill-in rate varies widely: these figures describe DPEs that complete the section, not the whole city.

Comparable cities
