  • 16% of homes with a DPE in Valence report air conditioning, against 9.2% in mainland France.
  • 24% of homes with a DPE in Valence have shared (collective) heating (15% in mainland France).

Energy and climate ratings

Among 15,130 valid DPEs of homes (excluding generated DPEs) in Valence, rating C is the most common; 45% reach ratings A to C.

If the homes with a DPE in Valence had the same mix of building age and type (house, flat) as mainland France, the F+G share would be 7.2% (+0.2 pt versus the observed figure).

By floor area, the F+G share among homes with a DPE in Valence ranges from 5.1% (under 25 m²) to 9.5% (25-39 m²).

For 22% of homes with a DPE in Valence whose published class is reproduced, the climate rating (greenhouse-gas emissions) sets the DPE class: the final rating is the worse of the two (18% in mainland France).

12% of homes with a DPE in Valence whose published class is reproduced would change rating with 5 kWh/m²/year of consumption, or 1 kg CO₂/m²/year of emissions, more or less: they sit on a class boundary (1,775 homes; 12% in mainland France). For them, a small measurement gap or a minor work can move the letter.

Frequently asked questions — Valence

How many energy-inefficient homes are there in Valence?

Of the 15,130 homes with a DPE (excluding generated DPEs) since 1 July 2021 whose DPE is valid on 25 August 2026, 1,068 are rated F or G (7.1%), including 253 rated G. At building age and type comparable to mainland France, the share would be 7.2%. These are homes with a DPE, not every home in the city.

Why are some DPEs in Valence generated from the building?

32% of valid DPEs in Valence were generated from the building's DPE, without a rating measured for the flat itself. The rules allow this for flats in an already-assessed building. These DPEs are counted separately on this page: they report F and G less often in older buildings, and almost never summer comfort.

How are homes in Valence heated?

According to their DPEs, homes in Valence are mainly heated by natural gas (52%), electricity (41%), district heating (4.0%). In mainland France, electricity heats 50% of homes with a DPE and natural gas 36%.

What do DPEs in Valence say about summer comfort?

88% of homes with a DPE in Valence fill in the DPE's summer comfort section. Of these, 31% are rated insufficient, 49% average and 19% good. The fill-in rate varies widely: these figures describe DPEs that complete the section, not the whole city.

Comparable cities
