Key facts

  • 59% of valid DPEs in Montreuil were generated from the building's DPE, without a rating measured for the flat itself (29% in mainland France).
  • 21% of homes with a DPE in Montreuil are rated F or G, against 12% in mainland France — and the gap persists at comparable building age and type (19%).
  • 31% of homes with a DPE in Montreuil have shared (collective) heating (15% in mainland France).
  • Natural gas heats 48% of homes with a DPE in Montreuil, against 36% in mainland France.

Energy and climate ratings

Among 15,078 valid DPEs of homes (excluding generated DPEs) in Montreuil, rating D is the most common; 27% reach ratings A to C.

If the homes with a DPE in Montreuil had the same mix of building age and type (house, flat) as mainland France, the F+G share would be 19% (-2.3 pts versus the observed figure).

Small homes are the most often poorly rated in Montreuil: 28% of assessed homes under 25 m² are rated F or G, against 14% for those of 70-99 m².

For 16% of homes with a DPE in Montreuil whose published class is reproduced, the climate rating (greenhouse-gas emissions) sets the DPE class: the final rating is the worse of the two (18% in mainland France).

11% of homes with a DPE in Montreuil whose published class is reproduced would change rating with 5 kWh/m²/year of consumption, or 1 kg CO₂/m²/year of emissions, more or less: they sit on a class boundary (1,725 homes; 12% in mainland France). For them, a small measurement gap or a minor work can move the letter.

Frequently asked questions — Montreuil

Why are some DPEs in Montreuil generated from the building?

59% of valid DPEs in Montreuil were generated from the building's DPE, without a rating measured for the flat itself. The rules allow this for flats in an already-assessed building. These DPEs are counted separately on this page: they report F and G less often in older buildings, and almost never summer comfort.

How many energy-inefficient homes are there in Montreuil?

Of the 15,078 homes with a DPE (excluding generated DPEs) since 1 July 2021 whose DPE is valid on 25 August 2026, 3,212 are rated F or G (21%), including 1,408 rated G. At building age and type comparable to mainland France, the share would be 19%. These are homes with a DPE, not every home in the city.

How are homes in Montreuil heated?

According to their DPEs, homes in Montreuil are mainly heated by natural gas (48%), electricity (45%), heating oil (3.2%). In mainland France, electricity heats 50% of homes with a DPE and natural gas 36%.

What do DPEs in Montreuil say about summer comfort?

91% of homes with a DPE in Montreuil fill in the DPE's summer comfort section. Of these, 44% are rated insufficient, 42% average and 14% good. The fill-in rate varies widely: these figures describe DPEs that complete the section, not the whole city.
