Energy and climate ratings

Among 43,383 valid DPEs of homes (excluding generated DPEs) in Tours, rating C is the most common; 45% reach ratings A to C.

If the homes with a DPE in Tours had the same mix of building age and type (house, flat) as mainland France, the F+G share would be 9.3% (+0.5 pt versus the observed figure).

By floor area, the F+G share among homes with a DPE in Tours ranges from 5.7% (70-99 m²) to 13% (25-39 m²).

For 19% of homes with a DPE in Tours whose published class is reproduced, the climate rating (greenhouse-gas emissions) sets the DPE class: the final rating is the worse of the two (18% in mainland France).

13% of homes with a DPE in Tours whose published class is reproduced would change rating with 5 kWh/m²/year of consumption, or 1 kg CO₂/m²/year of emissions, more or less: they sit on a class boundary (5,565 homes; 12% in mainland France). For them, a small measurement gap or a minor work can move the letter.

Frequently asked questions — Tours

How many energy-inefficient homes are there in Tours?

Of the 43,383 homes with a DPE (excluding generated DPEs) since 1 July 2021 whose DPE is valid on 25 August 2026, 3,823 are rated F or G (8.8%), including 1,233 rated G. At building age and type comparable to mainland France, the share would be 9.3%. These are homes with a DPE, not every home in the city.

Is district heating common in Tours?

17% of homes with a DPE in Tours are on district heating, against 4.1% in mainland France. In the DPE, district heating's primary energy is counted with a factor of 1, and its greenhouse-gas emissions depend on each network's own carbon content.

Why are some DPEs in Tours generated from the building?

37% of valid DPEs in Tours were generated from the building's DPE, without a rating measured for the flat itself. The rules allow this for flats in an already-assessed building. These DPEs are counted separately on this page: they report F and G less often in older buildings, and almost never summer comfort.

Which postcode of Tours has the highest share of F- or G-rated homes?

Among homes with a DPE (excluding generated DPEs), it is 37000: 12% are rated F or G, out of 28,580 DPEs. 37200 has the lowest share (1.3%). The table by postcode also gives, for each, the share of flats and of homes built before 1948 among assessed homes.

How are homes in Tours heated?

According to their DPEs, homes in Tours are mainly heated by natural gas (43%), electricity (39%), district heating (17%). In mainland France, electricity heats 50% of homes with a DPE and natural gas 36%.
